“Sir Douglas. I just listened to everything. Where do I begin. Your guitar work is exquisite. (Was that a 12-string on the final song?) Your voice is so endearing. Your lyrics so insightful. My faves: Don’t Worry, My Love (“It’s lonely being right…”) My Lady (“…she says, ‘What will you do?’”) New Moon Rising (My #1 fave) & Seeing Some Signs (Don’t worry so much!)

I’m interested to see how the additional instruments and harmonies turn out (on the Frills version of the CD), but I do love me some un-plugged Doug. You have a wonderful gift, dear friend. Thanks for sharing it.”

“Maestro Doug:

Well, quite an accomplished body of work, my friend. I have my sentimental ol' favorites, of course, but here are some thoughts I jotted:

  • Don't Worry My Love - oh, so tender!

  • Did I Ever Tell You - a Bible verse (Romans 7:19) echoed re "the good that I should say, I say not." Nice turn.

  • Lessons, Love & Laughter - I couldn't help but think of Carl as I lingered on the lyrics

  • Here I Can Love You - great line "But the people who love you stay here, so how could the answer be dying"

  • New Moon Rising - your slower treatment made this even more beautiful. Your voice was forceful and gentle, back 'n' forth. A rather dramatic, hopeful lift at the end. May be appropriate some day for my bro.

  • Morning In Ramona - loved the whispering quality of your voice

  • IAMSRE - the sentiment is timeless. Can never hear this without picturing a tiny Darcy.

  • Seeing Some Signs - so many reflections on the fourth quarter of our lives and today's troubles. Starts with sobering thoughts but ends up hopeful and determined - "late in the day, but more to do." A good reminder for all us geezers out here.

Congrats, Doug. Stellar!”
